Hype for Dr. Beverley’s book “9 Simple Solutions to Achieve Health Equity: A Guide for Healthcare Professionals and Patients”

“I enjoyed reading your book, 9 Simple Solutions to Achieve Health Equity: A Guide for Healthcare Professionals and Patients. The book provides the necessary tools to achieve health equity. The book reminded me of the challenges navigated to achieve health equity, as a retired African American Registered Nurse. It is difficult to comprehend how some of the exact same issues regarding health equity continue to exist. Ryan and Roger’s stories were compelling and heartfelt. Also, addressing patients as “Frequent Flyer” or “Noncompliant” without asking the “Why” is priceless. The script provided for patients with Sickle Cell Disease is a “Gem.”

 I thought the book would be extremely technical and boring. However, I was pleasantly surprised with the practical solutions to achieve health equity with the development of the Bridge Team. The book was an easy read. I completed the book in a matter of hours with an occasional break. I will recommend the book to the NAACP North Shore Great Neck Branch 2151-B.
